(Saracino’s Corkscrew)

Sterling silver, Lapis Lazuli, Mokume Gane, onyx.

Cast and fabricated elements. 23”x8”x8”. 2009.

A composite of the hundreds of corkscrews I observed, handled, used, and coveted while I was wondering around Europe. This functional corkscrew got a bit out of control in terms of scale but keeps true my repeated attempt to meld historical iconography with a more modernist approach to Form. Wine tasting will never be quite the same.
